The Acai plant is part of the “palm” family and is endemic to Brazil and Northern South America, namely The Amazon Rainforest. Naturally, the Acai Plant thrives in waterlogged and swamp environments, that are heavily shaded, thus, with low levels of light. However, due to demands placed on growth by current health trends, Acai is now being farmed. The Acai Palm Plant can reach heights of 15-30m and bears dark purple seeded fruits that contain the potential for many therapeutic health properties. Once, esteemed in traditional Amazon tribes as a “gift from the spirits”, it’s now viewed as a “superfood” and popularly promoted among health professionals.
The pulp is not sweet but instead has a bitter taste and so, is often sold as pulp juice or in supplement form for taste. Acai is valued for its high levels of fibre (44.2g/100g), which can aid satiety and is a brilliant antioxidant source because of its abundance of anthocyanins.
We recommend taking our Acai Tablets in conjunction with a healthy balanced and varied diet. Oxford Vitality's Acai provides a standardized dose of 2500mg. The size of the tablet is 10mm which is considered a large tablet, so if you have trouble swallowing, these are not recommended.
